Thomas Meek

Coach Thomas attended the University of Chicago where he excelled as a student-athlete. As the most decorated swimmer in the university’s history, Coach Thomas was a team leader both in and out of the pool. During his collegiate career, Coach Thomas finaled in many NCAA  DIII National tournaments and won the 400 Freestyle Relay his Junior year.

Coach Thomas is interested in the athletic and meditative aspects of swimming. His goal is to share his knowledge to help swimmers of all ages achieve their goals, whatever those goals may be.


Eric Wanaanen

Coach Eric grew up swimming in Northern Virginia for Solotar Swim Team under some great coaches who later inspired him to coach. He competed for Oakton High School, West Virginia University and George Mason University Patriots Masters team until 2001.

He has worked with kids as young as 3 up to adults who are learning to swim for the first time! His love for the sport drives him to keep teaching, hoping that through doing so others will discover the joy of swimming.



Troy Terry

Coach Troy grew up swimming competitively in Tucson, AZ, shortly after high school he moved to Denver, CO and began working the the JCC in multiple departments but specialized in youth sports. After moving back to Arizona in fall of 2019 he knew the JCC of Scottsdale would become his new home.


Coach Troy leads the youth J-Rex Rec team focusing on fun and engaging swimming while working on stroke development and technique.
